<p>My school only offers IB. So I’ve got IB PYP and IB MYP certificates (doing IB Diploma right now). Personally, I feel that the MYP certificate is pretty useless. Most colleges pay more attention to your high school records, especially your junior and senior year. Besides, MYP is not extremely hard. It’s nothing compared to the IB Diploma. If you’re doing MYP to prepare for the IB Diploma, then I suggest doing AP or IGCSE instead. MYP’s curriculum doesn’t exactly teach you enough text book material.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, if MYP is the only curriculum offered beside your normal classes, then I would say take it! You’ll have to conduct a personal project in your sophomore year on any topic you like. This could be a chance to pursue the career you’re interested in, and something to include in your college app!</p>
<p>I’ve been taking all of the prep course for IB so far, so for the certificate I only have to do the personal project and MYP testing. Would colleges say “Oh look this person didn’t take advantage of this?” or will they not care? I think I’m just going to go for it regardless…</p>
