<p>Six out of fifteen Texans have been accepted thus far! So far so good.</p>
<p>congrats everyone!!!!! decision weeks are fun :)</p>
<p>athlonmj, I received the trustee distinguished scholarship of 9000/year (even though it says 8000 on the Rice website). It came in the same folder as the acceptance letter. This was a very big surprise because of the wording on merit scholarship information. it says it goes to "impact" students who have won recognition at high levels. I do not have an significant awards, but i guess they really like other aspects of my application. My stats are 1440, 770 Physics, 740 IIC, 660 Writing, which are all generally weak, but I have taken about 15 APs and have worked 25-30 hrs/week ever since sophomore year. GPA 4.0 (1/707). I have pretty decent community service and in think my essay was really strong. </p>
<p>The problem is, i expect my financial need to be much more than 9000/year, and since merit scholarships are just included in the aid package, it wont make a difference in what i am actually paying. Rice meets 100% of the determined financial need so just lumping the scholarship as a part of grants and stuff isnt gonna help me. hopefully i have this wrong, if anyone knows please let me know.</p>
