I'd just like to rant...

I am FURIOUS. None of my friends understand. No one does. Why does college have to be such a toss-up? I realize decisions are arbitrary but I have worked so hard the last four years, if there is a God somewhere I deserve to be admitted somewhere I actually want to go. And this isn't only referring to myself. ALL of us do. Anyone who honestly believes they have worked their ass.es off the last four years and is now being sent rejection after rejection (or in my case, waitlist after waitlist) ... what have we done wrong? What more could we have done? Did we come off as desperate? Annoying? Needy? WELL IT'S BECAUSE WE ARE. I AM desperate to get into the colleges of my dreams. It's all I want. And I think I deserve it. Maybe my grades or scores weren't stellar but they were GOOD. But clearly not good enough. Wait lists suck and waiting for USC to change my dumb status sucks too. SENIOR YEAR SUCKS.

Who all can relate?

****…i kinda feel the same way, especially when the first college i heard from (my top choice) rejected me.

^^you said it brudda. I hope we all get in. I know if I don’t, I’m gonna drink lots of you to help ease the pain =P

amen.

And if they’re going to reject us, they could at least tell us earlier than A MONTH BEFORE WE HAVE TO DECIDE WHERE WE GO.

i wish there was a better word to show how much i agree with this rant. straight up

what they need to do is release all decisions on one date so we dont all freak out and check our mailboxes continuosly

^^^

yes. Agreed.

(edit: why doesn’t CC let me use caps lock?!)

A_Procrastinator
I was confused at first but now i realize what you’re saying. I will drink much of me as well hahahha.

the rest of you…
i just needed to get this out of me. it’s so frustrated ugh college admission season is torture i just hope it’s not a reflection of what the next four years will be like.

I wish my status would change too. Any change is good.

Personally I’m kind of bummed that some academically driven students don’t get into the schools they have a shot at because of outside factors that the students can’t control. Factors like athletic scholarship, international status, and minority groups. Or even worse, you got into your dream school but you have to settle for another because of financial difficulties. I’m content with what I have gotten into so far but I suppose the admissions process just goes to show that life is unfair in general.

Speaking of change, is anyone watching the news? The healthcare bill just passed 219-212…

Can’t wait to talk about this in AP gov tomorrow.

Wow, you just brought politics onto the table.

hahah yeah we do “news” in AP gov every day for a good 5-10 min. I’m sure tomorrow everyones going to be flipping out about health care. poor john culberson, i met him a few weeks ago and he told me he would rather die before health care got passed.

opheliarose
agreed. or that they should just change the way this stupid process works. it doesn’t seem very efficient. that’s why i applied to so many schools though, i figure this way i might have a chance somewhere

We do “news” in AP gov every day too, and it always turns into a 44 minute discussion. My teacher is crazy and OBSESSED with politics but completely bent on never letting us know his political views. It probably kills him to keep it a secret. Our room’s seating chart is by political ideology, haha. It’s such a great class. He just lets us loose and it turns into a debate between the two sides of our room.

my teacher is the sponsor for the young democrats club, so i know her political views haha. she says i’m too radical of a democrat though and i know she’s fiscally very conservative, so she’s probably going to be pretty disappointed tomorrow. she told me once that she’s scared for out generations future, lol

You should probably make a thread like this in some place where admissions are even less forgiving, like…uh…MIT or Stanford or something. I promise that was unbiased :D

I use to have something similar to that in APUSH. Though they really weren’t top news mostly just stupid stuff going around the world. Our teacher basically contradicted everything we learned. For example he told us about Betsy Ross and how she didn’t make up the first American Flag. Or how the Mayflower landed somewhere else. The worst was when he told us the guys for thefreecreditreport.com commercials lip synced. Haha.

I love the freecreditreport.com commercials.

It is upsetting to know all of you are waiting for good news. However, after double checking the admissions website USC NEVER promised to mail any early admission letters. It states quite plainly admission letters would be sent by April 1, 2010.

Most of the selective colleges in the U.S. notify on April 1. That is when a huge number of students will be informed of the decision. “Acceptance Day” has been May 1. That is when acceptances must be mailed to your chosen college/university.

I did speak with an admissions employee over the weekend in one particular school, which shall remain nameless. In that school only a small portion of the acceptances had been mailed as of Friday. If this is the case across the campus many acceptances should be in the mail and delivered over the next nine days. Out of over 35,500+ applicants think how few are posting here. CC is only a tiny segment of those who applied.

For generations Punahou and Iolani have each been sending 20 to 25 graduates to SC. Have we heard of even one at this time? It is just an example of the small sample on this board.

As some of you commented, the parents and alumni who post here are trying to help. We are keeping our fingers crossed for positive results. It is not much longer to wait…

April 1…

Plus, the people on CC represent only a tiny fraction of the top of the applicant pool. That’s why it seems like everyone here has gotten their acceptances… a lot of them were merit scholarship people.

^ very true guys, very true. But facts are facts. Waves are being sent out and these waves contain a great number of people. As April 1 draws closer, the chances of getting accepted become less and less and less.
