I'd like some advice on what schools I should apply to, please.

I know I just made a thread yesterday asking a question, and I don't want to come off as annoying, so I'm sorry if I am annoying anyone. I'm just stressed at this point in my life, cause it's so crutial for my to transfer to a good school.

I plan on applying to 5 colleges/universities for the Fall of 2010. Here's my record:

-I'm 18 years old. I graduated from Joseph Case High School in Swansea, Massachusetts #52/130 with a 2.59 GPA. I'm actually extremely intelligent, it's just I suffered through a tragedy (both my parents passed away at the begining of my Freshmen year), so my grades my first year and a half were really not where they should have been.

-My SAT's are approx. 590 (eng), 570 (mth), & 580 (wrt), but I do plan on retaking the SAT in November.

-I attended Bristol Community College in Fall River, Massachusetts this year. I got into a couple of schools coming out of high school, but I decided it would be better to get my grades way up at a Community College and transfer to a good school rather than settle and commit myself and my money to a 4-year college. From talking to my 1st-semester teachers, they say there's no reason why I shouldn't get all A's, so it's looking like my GPA for this year will be a 3.7+ (hopefully a 4.0!), which would surely mean I'll be on the Deans List.

-I've got some good EC's. I played varsity basketball & football for 3 years in high school. I did theatre (with awards) for 3 years in high school. I've been apart of a theatre company for 2 years called Caron Productions, which I'm still apart of. I participate in the BCC (my college) Theatre Rep. company now as well. I work a job at Sears. I was on the staff at my high school newspaper for 3 years, plus the editor for 1. I'm going to be starting writing for my current college's newspaper ASAP as well. I've done volunteer work at the Swansea Public Library, Animal Advocates, Pet Partners, + I'm going to be doing some more volunteer work this year.

-I'm a really creative person. I haven't exactly nailed my essay topic, but I plan on talking about my growth from high school to college, but taking a unique twist on it. Plus, I'mm be applying for film programs, so I'll be submitting a 3-5 minute short film that I've made.

-I've got some nice LOR. 1. A well-respected theatre director/Emerson College alumni. He's won numerous awards. Very close to him. 2. A Rhode Island State-Sentator, who I'm very close with. 3. My current advisor/teacher of 2 classes. Getting close to him. Former teacher @ Emerson. Plus, I plan on getting a couple of more. (my work boss perhaps, volunteer heads? I'm not sure)

Now, here's why I just ranted and ranted. I want you guys to recommend me some schools that you think would be a good fit to me, but wouldn't be totally impossible for me to get into. I plan on majoring in the Film field, with Creative Writing as a minor, so good programs in those fields would be a huge help. So far, these are the schools I'm THINKING of applying to:

-Emerson College*
-University of Rhode Island
-Boston University
-Keene State College
-Providence College

= deffenitly applying to.

Oh, and by the way, I need to stay within New England, so thats kind of a big thing. New York would be acceptable, though.

So, what my three big questions are: Out of the 5 I listed, do I have a decent chance at any of those? Which would be other schools that might be good fits for me? and Any advice for me?!

Thank you guys so, so much in advance. This will be my last thread, I promise!

I could really use help :-(

I’ll love you forever if someone helps me.

This is a really though situation. I’m sorry to hear about your parents, you must have had though times.
Frankly, your SATs are too low so as you said, retake them and try to get a better score.
Your GPA is really low, and that would be though to bring up this late in the game.
If I were you, I would go to Community College for one/two years, if that’s a possibility, and then transfer.
I know that is probably not something that you’ll be happy to do. I am going to CC right now and its really not that great but it actually let me adjust to college. (My SATs were low).
So yeah, retake the SATs, get a good score, go to CC and then transfer.
You should still try to apply to some schools, especially match and safety schools, cause you still may have a chance.
Hope I helped.

Thank you for your response. It was a hard time, but I’ve gotten through it.

-Yes, my SATs are so low, it’s kind of embarressing. No excuse for that, I’m retaking them in November, so I plan on bringing them up significantly.
-That was my high school GPA, for the record. I do attend Community College right now and I’ve gotten my act together. As I said, it’s looking like I’m going to get at least a 3.8 this semester, so I figure the fact that I’ll have two strong semesters of CC will help me out with getting into some good schools, despite my poor HS GPA.

What do you think would be some good schools in New England to apply to with a great CC GPA, low HS GPA, good essay, lots of EC’s, and pretty good SAT (when I retake them)? Do any of the 5 look like they’d be in reach?

:-( waaaaaaaaaaaaah

againnnn :-</p>

come on, please…
