So this is what harvard told me:
On my official high school transcripts, our school ID pictures are shown. For my senior ID picture, I decided to take a goofy picture because your senior ID picture is not in the yearbook and I was unaware that it would be on my transcript until a friend of mine told me. I was wondering if I should I retake my ID picture or leave it as it is? I don’t want this one picture to affect my chances of being accepted to your college.

and this is what NYU said:
While it would be unlikely that your picture your affect an admissions decision, I would still recommend retaking the picture. That transcript will be sent to all school for which you apply and you want to make sure you are presenting yourself in a mature, poised manner in all parts of your application.

who do I listen to…? harvard perhaps?

I only see NYU’s response… I think you copied and pasted the wrong portion of the Harvard e-mail…?

Yup ^ I wanna see Harvard’s response! :)

Oh hahah oops sorry about that.
And it isn’t from a harvard admission’s officer, it’s from one of their students. They sent out an email awhile ago about how this student would answer any questions from prospective undergraduates so I emailed her.

Haha, [my name], I’m sure the Admissions office has a sense of humor! If
anything, it shows you have a personality and that certainly doesn’t
hurt your chances-don’t even worry about it!

THIS IS HILARIOUS xD

to the OP, if you can retake the picture I don’t see what the problem is. if it’s eating you up so much just do it. what’s with all the debate?

A goofy picture will not affect the evaluation of your application.

Best,

Armanda Balsamo

This is what Stanford said.

Well after reading what the person from Harvard said, I kind of don’t want to retake it. I mean, who should I listen to? Harvard or NYU…?

I think it says a lot about you that you’re willing to take a goofy picture for your ID. If “stuck up” Harvard and Stanford think it’s cool, then booo supposedly cool NYU.
