i was going to answer the following prompt:
The late-eighteenth-century popular philosopher and cultural critic George Lichtenberg wrote, Just as we outgrow a pair of trousers, we outgrow acquaintances, libraries, principles, etc. at times before theyre worn out and at timesand this is worst of allbefore we have new ones. Write an essay about something you have outgrown, perhaps before you had a replacement-a friend, a political philosophy, a favorite author, or anything that has had an influence on you. What, if anything, has taken its place?

i was thinking about writing about how i found a replacement for my favorite teacher. during freshman year i had the coolest math teacher. he let us do whatever we want in class while we still learned. as long as you didn't get into trouble, he was cool with whatever you did. as of then, i thought he was the best teacher ever.

then sophomore year through junior year, i had a new math teacher. she's the reason why i like math so much today. in her class she would teach us where formulas came from and why we do what we do in math. she was very organized. if you had a question, she would always be sure to answer it. i used to be shy and not participate as much in class such as asking questions if i had any, but while having her as a teacher, i learned that i don't need to be so shy in classes. she made me appreciate mathematics more than i ever had before so therefore, she replaced my math teacher from freshman year as my favorite teacher.

would that be a good idea or is the u of c looking for something better?
