Idea! Prep Book Trade

Ok, I don't know if anyone elsehas the same opinion, but I am incredibly cheap and would Never buy a new AP prep book off of Amazon unless my score depended on a newer edition. In living on these threads, a lightbulb went off in my head- "Hey! If there are all theses people with all these prep books that they are only going to use for one exam and thy are going to need prep books for other subjects next year, why should we have to buy them new or whatever?" What if we traded our prep books?

All you have to do is sell it used on Amazon affordably and the other person will do the same.
Ex: Student A took Euro this year. He has PR. Is taking US next year
Student B took US this year. She has Amsco. Is taking Euro next year.

Student A and Student B each sell their book to eachother for - i don't know- 50 cents. Each has a lovely review book- all they really pay for is shipping. And we can connect with other CCers. Yay!

I suppose you can do it for textbooks for self-studyers too, because those are darn expensive (assuming you own the text and it's not from school)

Does this sound like a good idea? are we even allowed to do this? Or am I going insane?

If so I have 4 prep books for Euro available- I'm looking for chem, ush, and english lang.

I would be willing to help get things started. . .what do you think??

Good idea, but where's one to get the books to begin with? What happens when a new edition is released; the person who buys a brand new book won't want to trade the book he payed full price for a book of lesser value, right?

i actually think its a really good idea

yea it's a good idea...

So. . .who's got what?

Willing to trade these
European History
-Princeton Review
-REA
-Modern European History by Vialt
-Barron's

Looking For
-US History- AMSCO especially, PR, REA if not
-Chem- not sure
-English language- not sure

Also have some random regents stuff for Math B and Global is anyone is interested

To answer DeafeningHorn's questions, I figured that many CCers already have many review books lying around unused. Assuming that the exam doesn't change much, an older edition is often nearly identical to a newer one (I've checked a few!). And even if I bought my books new, I would have probably just gave them away to a sophomore I liked that's taking European History, so I dunno. . .I don't really care about these after I took the exam. . .so I think I can help someone out.

If everyone posted what they are lookin for and what they are willing to trade, I can help match people up and give further instructions if necessary.

Lovely!
Use a similar style to what I have posted above to make things organized.

I'm a sophomore taking Euro next year... like me!

That's a great idea!!! I wonder if CC.com could work something out with Amazon.com? Have a little CC.com prep book marketplace page...

Yeah, because Amazon doesn't like to make a profit.

Could it be done simultaneously? I mean, one person buy from another, and vice versa. If not, there's likely to be problems in which one person buys a book off another, for a ridiculously low price, then refuses to sell their book. I know I'd insist in being the one to buy first if I were to do this; it takes a leap of faith.

(sorry for being the bitter pill!)

Amazon does get commission or something on stuff- the CC page would be cool. . .there ar ethings called zShops, but I don't know how you'd do that with so many sellers. . .

As to DeafeningHorn, I can only assure MY honesty. Perhaps if someone gets jipped, we could alert the mods. I really don't know what else we could do.

But hey post your prep books!

Amazon makes so little profit of low priced items.

Er. . .okay. But if I see sellers selling paperbacks for $0.01 and $0.02 (even a few good review books), I guess it's perfectly acceptable.

ebay? just a thought...
