I really want to go to Berkeley when I graduate from high school, but I am hearing that taking pre-med In Berkeley is not recommended. I just want to know that what is the ideal major for pre-med in Berkeley to get a good G.P.A and a good MCAT score. Also, Is it possible for people who graduate from Berkeley's pre-med program to go to such Medical schools such as UCSF, Stanford, Harvard etc?

_____ Studies is easiest to get a good GPA
MCB/IB is easiest to fufill though.

Because you need Bio, Chem, Math, Physics in order to apply to med school.
With any other major, you need to do the pre-med requirements then do your major requirements. That means a lot of extra classes.

If you do MCB/IB, the major/premed requirements are the same.

But since A LOT of premed kids are doing MCB/IB, the curve is harder.
Then again, the premed reqs and the major weeder class reqs are the same. So you’re screwed either way.

REMEMBER: Med school will also look at Science GPA and Overall GPA, so even if you do ___ Studies and you don’t do well in the premed classes, you’re screwed. On the other hand, by doing MCB/Ib, you have an opportunity to redeem yourself since they are science classes and add to your science GPA

MCAT score = MCB since you keep a focus on chem/bio, which the MCAT will focus on.
Good GPA = ____ Studies…

The best premed major is one you’re interested in. If you like what you’re studying, then you’ll do well and get a high GPA.

Yes, Berkeley premeds get into Stanford, Yale, Harvard, JHU, UPenn, WashU, UCLA, UCSF, and whatever other medical schools you can think of.
