Kinesis- Dance Team

I need a school with a great dance program, but one that does not require you to major in it in order to be on the dance team.. I have been dancing for 8 years and take every type of dance (besides for Tap).. I have traveled to Colorado, took classes in the city, joined companies in New York and New Jersey.. I have also begun to teach dance classes weekly for underprivileged children in the Bronx, while delivering groceries to a family at the Center once a month.

I would like a Medium to Large school (minimum 5,000 max whatever!)
I need my school to be close to a city, just as my town is only 20-25 minutes from NYC
I would like a school that is prestigious for academics, yet is not cut-throat
I would prefer a school with a lot of school spirit
I need a school that provides a dance program, is known for pyschology (my intended major) or neuroscience, cognitive science, or pre-med. An added bonus would be pretty large dorm rooms.

i also was going to suggest NYU, as i think it is close to home, medium/large sized, has a good reputation, and i'm pretty sure it has a dance program (but you should check their website to see whether or not non-dance majors participate)

Medium to large school, in or near a big city, dance team...hmmm...

UCLA and USC have good dance teams, strong academics, and plenty of school spirit.

Or, if you're looking for something slightly more towards the medium side, I'd suggest Northwestern. I'm not sure about how great their dance team is, but Chicago is a great city with millions of dance studios.

If you'd rather stay on the east coast, another option is Fordham. Then you could always try Boston U as a safety.

Vanderbilt...don't know about dance tho...but it is one mile away from Nashville. It has excellent academics/prestige, but aslo has a social scene.

NYU has a great dance program, but you should probably e-mail them to see if you can participate even if it's not your major (I believe you can, but not entirely sure). On the other hand, it doesn't have that much school spirit due to their lack of any substantial athletics and lack of campus solidarity.

I really don't know much about dance, but based on everything else you mentioned I would suggest Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Emory, and Wash U. All four are medium size and near large cities (Chicago, Baltimore, Atlanta, St. Louis) and appear to be in the right range of schools. All four have great reputations for pre-med since they have fantastic medical schools. If school spirit is a big issue then Northwestern would fit that because of Big Ten athletics. Those schools are worth looking at.

All below offer solid general academics and dance options along with strong school spirit in/near cities or large college towns. Mich/USC/Vanderbilt would all seem "matches" given your posted credentials. Northwestern, a bit of a reach RD, more of a match ED.
