Ideas for reasonable lodging near campus?

My son's scheduled for an interview at the GWU campus ina couple weeks. We're from CT, so we'll have todrive down & stay someplace the night before his interview. Would like to find a reasonably-priced place to stay that's near campus..the ideal combo. of clean/cheap/close to campus is what we're looking for...any ideas?

Go to getaroom.com, they have good deals. Hotels.com does too.
Good luck

rross - check out this site if you haven’t already.

[Lodging & Dining - The George Washington University](http://www.gwu.edu/explore/visitingcampus/lodgingdining)

We stay at the Washington Suites - you can easily fit your student and 2 adults. I believe each room has a pull-out couch. It’s also close to Georgetown for shopping/dining.

Note - most hotels in this region will charge you $30/night for parking in addition.

Hope the interview goes well - this is very important to do! My “S” also brought a resume to the interview which helped the admissions rep for talking points. He was accepted for the class of 2014.

I have found the State Plaza Hotel, Hotel Lombardy, and GWU Inn all have reasonable rates and are right on campus. Be aware of the $30 per day parking charge tho. If you are looking for free parking, you may find some hotels in Arlington right across the bridge (One/two metro stops away from GW) that offer free parking.

Pretty good, a block from campus, right on PA Ave

[The Melrose Hotel - Washington DC - Melrose Experience](http://www.melrosehotelwashingtondc.com/wa_melrose.aspx)

We’ve stayed at the State Plaza, GWU Inn and River Inn. All have been very nice, with the added feature of small kitchens. Last month, we booked a package at the State Plaza that included valet parking and full breakfast for $109 on Friday and $139 on Saturday.

If you go on on Tripadvisor and type in the location you want, it will bring up hotels in the immediate vicinity. I like that user reviews pop up as well.

We ended up staying in Rosslyn (Arlington) - just over the Francis Scott Key bridge. The prices were a bit cheaper there, and the hotel threw in free parking. Pros were that it was clean and reasonable and close to GW’s MV campus and also to Georgetown for strolling and eating. Cons were that, although Rosslyn seems tidy and safe, it clears out completely after business hours and there’s not much to do there. Cement and buildings. Fine for a brief stay, though.

Georgetown is fun, but pricey, and not on the subway line.

I usually stay at the Lombardi they know us now!!!

Lombardy sorry

It really depends on when you go. Weekends seem to be cheaper. The GWU Inn is really close to campus and I have seen rates vary from $99 /night to $250 or so. Obviously parents weekend, Move-in, etc are the most expensive. We’re going down for a Saturday night in November and it was $99 for the night. As with everything else, book early!

Most nearby lodging is booked up for the Columbus Day weekend, which is also Parents Weekend at GW … did notice one good deal that’s still available as of this morning, though - that’s the Marriott Residence Inn Pentagon City in Arlington - it’s very nice, includes breakfast, is next door to a shopping mall and a Costco, has kitchenette, is one block from the Metro (only a few stops from Foggy Bottom), and has a special rate of $104 per night for the 15th & 16th. We booked early and are staying in the District, but this would be our choice if we hadn’t made reservations by now.

Oops, meant to say Columbus Day and Parents Weekend (the week after Columbus).

we’ve stayed at washington marriott, not a bad walk to campus. If you want to stay out
a little, I just heard that grand hyatt in penn quarter is 119 a night, beautiful hotel.
it’s a mile and a half from gw campus, 2 stops on metro

That’s a really good price for the Grand Hyatt, just the other side of the White House!

We always stayed in the river Inn–walking distance and inexpensive.

We stay one block from my daughter’s dorm. love it going back and forth.
