ideas for volunteer?

i want to be a lawyer with an english major in college. ill be almost 15 by summer so i'm looking for somewhere to volunteer. any ideas, preferably related to the field im interested in?thanks. i need community service hours, btw.

on a side note, i've recently been doing some stuff for my local veterans. but in total it'll only be about 5 hours of community service. should i put down "local veteran help" on my app or because i only held the position for such a short period of time, should i just not state that position?

You could do some more with the veterans. That might answer both of your questions. More opportunities and more hours in one swoop.

Local food banks, homeless shelters, nursing homes, boys and girls clubs, and as stated before more veteran volunteer work would all be great places to volunteer. That doesn’t necessarily relate to english but I can’t think of many opportunities that would. After you start driving, Meals on Wheels could use you as well.

Is there a court hours nearby where you live? The court case in my city ALWAYS takes volunteers for some clerical work. A while back, I had a friend who volunteered for a private law firm and ended working as secretary.

You should volunteer at a local library

I don’t know where you live, but where I live in the Bay Area, there’s this program called McCullum Youth Court: [McCullum Youth Court - Home](http://www.youthcourt.org/)

It’s where teens can get involved in court cases. It sounds really cool – maybe you could look for something like it.

Another awesome would be Teen Court. I hope you have one in your local area.
