Ideas on leveling the admissions playing field...

I am doing some research for a presentation about the unlevel playing field in college admissions when it comes to guidance (guidance gap) and would love any input from high school students in the middle of the admissions process, students who are now done with the process, and parents on the following (feel free to DM me or simply reply)…thank you:

  1. What are some of the things you feel were deficiencies in your college admissions guidance?

  2. If you could change anything about the college admissions process, what would it be?

  3. If you didn’t have a private admissions counselor, what resources did you rely on during your college list creation, essay writing, application review?

  4. What resources do you wish you had access to and how much would you be willing to pay?

  5. So many “chance me” on this and other sites, do you think it would be helpful to have your completed application reviewed by a former admissions officer from the school you are applying to (or similar) prior to submitting…a mock review by someone who doesn’t know you? If so, how much would you pay for that service and what type of feedback would you want?

  6. Any other thoughts on how to close the guidance gap created by the lack or resources in the schools?
