Good Essays/Letters of Rec.

I know my GPA/class rank is low for Midd but do you think my ACT will make up for it?

also I dont know if this matters but I've taken 7 AP courses out of the 10 offered at my highschool (Comparative Gov, Chem, Bio, Environmental Science, Calculus, US Gov, English; I didn't take physics, stats or music theory) and also I only have 3 years of a foreign language

82% of Middlebury students were in the top 10% of their class. The other 18% have something to offer that really stands out (contribute to diversity, athletics, the arts, music, etc.) or are legacies. What about you really stands out? What's your hook?

well Im in the top 12% of my graduating class and I'm taking 5 APs this year and I'm making all As so far so I should be in the top 10% by the end of the semester, but I'm applying early decision do think they will still take into account the fact that I should graduate in the top 10%?

also do geographic location and orientation count towards a contribution to diversity? because I'm from a smallish town in MO and gay.

I don't think Middlebury will tell boy scouts, so I don't think its an issue. The only problem is I haven't told my parents yet so I would have to tell them pretty soon.

Also I got a copy of my transcript and my GPA is actually 3.58/4.0 (weighted) and 3.38/4.0 (unweighted)

Maybe you need to write this essay as a way of telling your parents. Whether you send it to Middlebury or not, could be decided later! Probably best not to share info with anyone in scouting until your eagle is done. I don't agree with the policy, but love scouting. I guess my thought was, you might feel the same way, and it might be an interesting reflection for an essay.
