<p>If they don’t have one you can’t send it. 1099s can cover things like interest on bank accounts, unemployment benefits, some kinds of jobs, state tax refunds… lots of different things. Ask your parents.</p>
<p>If I don’t send one will they automatically understand that it’s because we didn’t fill one out, or do I need to do a non-filer statement or something?</p>
<p>You don’t fill out a 1099, it’s something you receive, like a W2 form. If you didn’t receive one then they would not expect you to send one to them.</p>
<p>The non-filer statement is something else entirely. It is for people who are not filing an income tax return with the IRS at all.</p>
