IDOC Copy which pages of tax return?

The IDOC Requirements section says:
A complete signed copy of your parents' 2013 federal income tax return (or a translated copy of their country's equivalent), including all required Schedules and all Partnership or Corporate returns, is required if your parents filed or will file a tax return for 2013. Do not send tax worksheets unless required for submission to the IRS. Do not send state tax returns or previous years' returns unless you are specifically instructed to. If your parents are not required to file a 2013 federal or equivalent income tax return, they must submit a Non-tax Filer's Statement and supporting documentation.

But when I look at the little checklist on my cover page it has these for options:
Signed 2013 IRS Form 1040
(Pages 1 & 2)
Signed 2013 IRS Form 1040A
(Pages 1 & 2)
Signed 2013 IRS Form 1040EZ
(Pages 1 & 2)
Signed 2013 IRS Form 1040X
(Pages 1 & 2)

Do I send in copies of my parents' entire tax return or just pages 1 and 2? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Send everything was that submitted to the IRS. This includes all forms and schedules.

@tropicalslushies, on the IDOC cover page we received, it lists most of the schedules (A, B, C, etc). I have to check which schedules are included in my parents’ tax return. Isn’t the same on yours?

I used the check list on the cover page and only sent those that corresponded. The instructions specifically state note to send worksheets.

You do not need to send all the document listed on the cover page. You need to check your IDOC instruction for the document they want, then fill the circles next the the document list on the cover list accordingly and included in the package. The coversheet items are not specific for you, that’s why you need to fill the circles. When it ask you to send the tax return, you need to send the tax forms (all pages of one of the Federal 1040) and required schedules (all on single side copy with your parents SSN on top right corner) but not worksheets.

@txhandan Yes, mine is the same. I guess I’m just confused. What are schedules?

^^ How did you parents prepare tax? Did they use a software? If software like TurboTax, you can just print out the Fed part required for filing and send all pages in. Schedules are additional forms for 1040 to show how the numbers on 1040 are calculated. You will learn it once you start filing taxes :-(

The schedules say at the top of the page what they are… if you look at the pile of paper that constitutes their tax return, if they have them they are behind the 1040<whatever> pages. Usually in order, starting with letters (Schedule A is first, etc.). Not every filer has every available schedule, so you will skip some or maybe have none. Generally one or more numbers calculated on a schedule feed into one of the lines on the 1040<whatever> they filed.</whatever></whatever>
