I mailed my IDOC package on Monday, Priority Mail and Certified. My tracking for that number is only showing that I mailed it -- no arrival at the end location or delivery. I have schools with February 15th deadlines. USPS won't allow you to begin documenting a missing piece of Priority Mail until 5 postal days after it was sent. I'm tempted to Express Mail another copy today, but that will mess IDOC up if they do deliver the other package as well. Thoughts? Should I call IDOC? The schools? Both?

(Ironically I sent tax forms to Cornell and VSAC non-Priority since they were less time-critical, and both those packages have arrived.)

mathmom - I mailed ours on 2/3 and the IDOC site shows no record of it yet. I would check with the colleges in question and ask if you should do anything other than just waiting. I don’t believe IDOC will accept Fedex or UPS or anything of that sort. I would just alert the colleges and then wait.

USPS is finally showing my package as having arrived at the destination post office today. (It still says they expect to deliver the package yesterday – time travel anyone?) So I’m less worried. I haven’t decided if I want to email the schools or not. I’m inclined to just let things progress as they will at this point. If the package had been lost, that would be another story!

MIT just replied to my earlier email asking if they wanted me to send them documents directly as well since they asked applicants to allow 2 weeks for IDOC mailing and processing, and we were not able to do that due to our IRS forms not being finalized. Their response was NOT to send them anything directly, that they’d prefer to just get them from IDOC and that they take IDOC processing time into account. CMU didn’t say anything about IDOC processing time on their finaid page, so I assume documents that got TO IDOC by the 15th would be ok.

Rockvillemom, you may want to to use the IDOC help link if you have not already done so. The recommend doing so if your package has not been acknowledged 4-5 days after mailing.

Well - I just checked back - and although it said nothing earlier in the day - now it says my package was rcvd on 2/7! So -all good. Done! Yay!
