So, I sent out my IDOC package on Friday, and only found out today that I needed to send in a non-tax filer's statement if I myself did not file taxes. Will this delay the reception of my package materials to the college board, or could I fax this form directly to the college board (so that it will be there once my package material arrives)? Thanks.

When I called IDOC about turning in a corrected form, they told me to send in the form, a note with the correction and to be sure to include a copy of the Cover Sheet.

I’ve never heard of IDOC accepting FAXes, maybe other people here have??

Oh, no, it’s not a correction that I need to make. I forgot to include it in my package entirely, and I was wondering if mailing it or faxing it (if possible) would help?

My sense is that IDOC has its process, which does not include faxes, and if you try to do something outside its process then the universe will explode.

I’d do two things: First, as entomom said, mail the form, the cover sheet, and a note explaining that this was omitted from the first submission.

Then call the college and let them know that the non-filer’s statement was inadvertently omitted, but is on the way.

Alright. I will do so. But, why would I need to print out another cover sheet?

They process many thousands of documents this time of year, and the first step is probably either scanning the cover sheet, or having a minimum-wage sorter process it. If you don’t use their process, the statement will be kicked out for manual handling, which will slow it up. I remember how much they stressed that the cover sheet MUST be included, which tells me that it’s important if you want the thing handled efficiently.

^^^Exactly. While sending in the form isn’t a numerical correction to your taxes or a form, it is a correction to your original IDOC packet.
