IDOC request from College Board?

Hi guys! I’m an international applicant who applied ED to Colby. I received a second email from CollegeBoard today saying

“Earlier this year the College Board sent you or your parents information about how to submit tax forms and other documents required by one or more of your colleges or programs. Our records show that the College Board has not received your required information.”

And

“Colleges to which you are applying cannot finalize your eligibility for financial aid until you submit your IDOC materials.”

I did submit my CSS form to Colby on time and emailed them the CoF and required forms too. I don’t think we had to submit anything through IDOC? And I was just wondering if I did something wrong or if I should just ignore this message?

Don’t ignore it. Open it and see what they want you to upload. Yes, you do have to submit through IDOC. It’s probably a copy of all the taxes and W-2’s. We did this a couple of months ago.

PS Make sure it isn’t a phishing scheme – don’t go through the link in your email.

But my country doesn’t have tax forms? And when I emailed Colby previously, they said I could send my documents (CoF and Income Documentation) through the email?

Oh my God, I’m honestly kind of freaking out right now. I’m sure this is going to affect my ED application or something?

Did you open it up and see what they are asking for?

The required documents are the 2015 Federal Tax Returns and it says that the deadline is 02/01/2017? I’m honestly so confused right now.

I thought only US Applicants had to submit through IDOC? Because the International Applicants page does not mention anything as such. Should I email them once?

No need to freak out, just call and ask them to clarify. I suspect that when you file the CSS Profile, it automatically requests certain documents based on what the school has identified as documents they need. When I sent the CSS Profile to Colby, I had a request from IDOC in my email the next morning - far too soon for Colby to have read my Profile and determined what additional documents they needed.

I received an IDOC request the day after I sent in my CSS form too. But I just ignored it because I thought it wasn’t important. And I had already emailed the other required financial aid documents.

Give them a call to clear everything up - otherwise, even if you really DON’T need to submit any further documents, it might keep showing up as “incomplete” on their end.

Yes, I would call and also go into the IDOC and submit the alternate forms (for example, there’s a “I don’t have a w-2” form) immediately. Open each one and read it and it will probably be very clear what you need to do. In the future open and read everything immediately, especially in regard to financial aid.

I’ll give them a call but who is the responsible person to talk to? Or can I just ask anyone?

I think I’d call the financial aid office. Or talk to admissions and they can probably transfer you to the appropriate office, or can tell you everything’s all set. They have your info–it’s an IDOC glitch, but it needs to be straightened out.

Had sent them an email earlier and was about to call them up when they sent an email saying that my financial aid application is complete and it was just a confusion.

Even then, thank you so much for your help and suggestions, everyone! Much appreciated.

Almost had a panic attack since decisions come out in a few days.

If this were my kid and we needed aid, first, I wouldn’t assume any communication “wasn’t important.” Then, after panicking, I’d call to confirm everything is truly in order. If the email is a direct response to your inquiry, that’s one thing. If it’s a form letter, call.

^^^@lookingforward I think this is a kid in Nepal. Sometimes it isn’t so easy.

The point is the same: leave no stone unturned. Follow up on everything.
