IDOC Service-- Help!!

Hi everyone,

CMU required TAX return documents from IDOC,-- but I didn't receive any instruction from college board so far. Anybody sent document to IDOC already? I am really worry about it will pass the due date.

Admission office said just wait for collegeboard's instruction, I can't mail doc. to school directly.

Try calling College Board. I called with a question about IDOC, and got a real person on the phone, who was very helpful. Here’s their contact information:

Call Us
You can also contact us at (305) 420-3688. To speak with a College Board representative, please call Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Eastern time). Extended service hours from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. are available from January through April. These hours are subject to change.
Thank you very much HoComm,

I am applicant’s mom too. We did call them and also e-mail them our request and ask the IDOC ID, no one pick up the phone and e-mail us back.

Seems we have to keep called them. By the way, I prefer to send all doc. to college directly, it is much straightforward.

You must send all documents to the IDOC service first. IFyou don’t have your IDOC ID, that’s fine. Go to IDOC website, you only need your SSN and birth date to sign in your account. Good luck. I HOPE it works!!!1

Thank you, Jincheng,

The worst thing is there was an error message pop up to show my SSN didn’t match… ( I did enter the correct SSN).

I have no idea why it happened to me. I have to keep calling them after this holiday.

Quail - Did you fill out the CSSP profile? I believe that is what generated the email with directions on IDOC.

^^The College Board requires you (if I am correct) ONLY TWO of the following information:

your name
your IDOC code or something like that
your SSN

Should you enter EXACTLY two pieces of information, the College Board will let u in w/o an error. However, if you fill in ALL of the three pieces of information (which is not two) I think an error message pops out saying that your information was incorrect. Just my hypothesizing on this problem that you have.

Hope I helped.

thank you all.

I did submit my CSS profile and filled my correct SSN#,( I don’t have IDOC ID).Really frustrated.

Collegeboard would have sent you an email on Feb 8th with IDOC instructions. If not, go into the collegboard website, click on IDOC and answer the questions referenced in earlier posts - that will bring you to the needed forms and instructions.

As stated above, you do not need your IDOC ID to get in, fill in the other fields, SSN and DOB I believe and you can still get in.

Thank you all help.

I called collegeboard couple times, they told me they will create IDOC ID and send the notification to student only when college sent the request to Collegeboard.

Seems CMU sends request to college one by one. CMU admission officer told me have to wait to 2-3 weeks from now.It will pass the due date. I really don’t know how they do this precedure.

I can’t do anything now. Just wait.

The collegeboards site states clearly on the IDOC site the following: IDOC is only available to students that participating colleges and programs select and the College Board notifies for participation. Do not enter the site unless the College Board notified you that at least one of your colleges or programs participates in the IDOC Service.

You don’t login at IDOC until AFTER after you complete the CSS Profile.

At the end of the CSS Profile a pop-up screen is generated with instructions which are duplicated in an email sent to student and parent about an hour later.

Once at IDOC (which is also a college board site),
Basically login in with student’s SS # and bday.

All you have to print there is:
IDOC cover sheet
Student non-filer statement (if that applies)
Non-custodial info (if that applies)
and federal verification form (if selected)

You then copy the tax returns for student and parents, w2 (1 per page) and mail the package back unstapled with the IDOC cover sheet on top.

For RETURNING students, there is a step 4 on SIO-- student attestation-- and the entire process is not complete until your son/daughter does that. It is 3 minutes - click on some links.
