Hello all,
So I’ve submitted my CSS Profile and am currently on the IDOC site. IDOC requires students to submit “Student Tax Forms”. However, I do not file taxes, only my parents do, and thus I do not have any “student tax forms” such as 1040 or W2s. What should I do?
Click the link that says “View list of general and institutional specific forms.” - the student non-filer form is there. Download it and fill it out and send it back.
@OHMomof2 What about the Form 1099 if my family doesn’t have one for this year?
@darkandrasberry If you don’t have a 1099, don’t submit it. Just ignore it. (This guidance was given to me by a College Board rep. over the phone.) It infuriates me that the College Board (in all its power) can’t just put in a button that says “Click to indicate this form is not applicable”.
Yep. If you don’t have W2s and 1099s then you don’t. But the non-filer form you will need.
@snappletop So colleges will understand that we won’t have this form and we won’t get penalized? Thank you for your help!
@OHMomof2 What about the red exclamation marks next to the certain forms that I am missing? Those will be fine? And my non-filer form just contains my name and social security number and nothing else because I don’t have any income to report. Is that fine?
Don’t worry about the exclamation points.
This is the non-filer statement (for US student). Is this the one you filled out? https://idoc.collegeboard.org/IDOC/images/thumbnails/2016/Non-Tax%20Filer%20Statement%20-%20Student.pdf
@OHMomof2 Yes, and I submitted an empty form that only contained my name, SSN, and signature
That ought to do it. You don’t work, you don’t work.
@OHMomof2 I actually forgot about a small job I had and added it and resubmitted it…therefore I’ve submitted 2 non-filer statements. I labelled the second one (FINAL)- Actual Copy. Should this suffice?
