IDOC worries

Even though I pleaded with my mom and stepdad for over a month to get their taxes done early, they only just dropped off their paperwork yesterday. Today they find out that they have to pay $1000 unless they get a bunch of documents and crap to display our medical expenses.

I'm extremely, extremely worried right now. Several of my schools require the 2010 taxes by TODAY and I had never even heard of this IDOC thing until a couple of weeks ago. My college counselor never mentioned it. In addition, my noncustodial parent may be unwilling to fill out the noncustodial profile and since I have contact with him, it is unlikely they they will provide a waiver.

My mom and stepdad did not attend college so I don't think they understand the severity of the situation. I've filled out all the forms myself because my mom isn't too comfortable with English.

Anyways, what are the real repercussions of me not turning in my forms on time? I'm scared, and I can't find much help anywhere.

The schools that asked for those forms won’t finalize any financial aid package for you until they’re recceived. Wanna get it in while the money’s still there and available before others who sent there’s in first take it all… Just send it all in ASAP. That’s basically it. The deadline will be passed, but they say to send it in as fast as you can.

Mine might be late too, so I hear you. (My parents waited a bit to have their taxes done…) Let’s hope for the best…

Ugh I want to puke. I am so dependent on aid. My EFC is about 4000 and I applied to all out-of-state colleges.

Do all of your schools do IDOC?

Most, I think. And the ones who don’t do IDOC need the tax returns anyways, but by a later date.
