Anyone received info on how to fill out IDOC yet? I didn't, but from what I heard, you have to just send in the 2005 tax forms to Collegeboard and they'll take care of the rest. Is this true?

College Board should have sent you an email (ours arrived last week). Your tax statements need to be accompanied by a cover letter.

yes, S received an e-mail from CB last week as well.

I got an email. I was just wondering if there's a list of schools that want the IDOC. Specifically, does Northwestern?

The IDOC request derives from the CSS Profile and to whom you had it sent. Some of those schools ask that CollegeBoard (via IDOC) collect specific tax form copies. Your email link should include a cover letter explanation which lists the school(s) that asked for the info, the date it's due, and exactly what to send. We sent the Profile to four schools but only one (MIT) is requesting the tax forms through this process. It's possible that other schools receiving the CSS Profile want you to send them the forms directly - check the college financial web sites to be sure. In our case, MIT references IDOC, one doesn't want them at all, one wants them sent directly to the school by 5/1, and one already turned our S down SCEA so they don't get anything!

I just peeked at Northwestern and it looks like they want the tax forms sent directly, not via IDOC, by March 1.

I sent my profile to MIT, but still haven't gotten an IDOC email yet
should I be concerned?

If we have more than one school that requests IDOC, do we just send in ONE copy to the collegeboard and they make copies for the schools, or do we send in a copy to the collegeboard for EVERY school that requires it.

According to IDOC, "one legible copy of each of the following documents is required, even if more than one institution requires your information." On the other question, as long as you know MIT was included in the list of schools I wouldn't worry - our Profile was sent early because of the inclusion of a SCEA school on the list.

Thanks Marilyn!
