Idoc?

Collegeboard keeps sending me e-mails about filling something out called an IDOC? As far as I know, my schools only need a CSS and FAFSA and I've never heard of IDOC. Can someone elaborate what this is? The schools I applied to are Emerson College, Binghamton University, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Albany, SUNY Stony Brook, Fordham University, Ithaca College, Vassar College, Wesleyan University, Northeastern University, UMass Amherst, and Quinnipiac University - do any of these need an IDOC?

Thanks!

Some schools are IDOC schools. Vassar definitely is. Wesleyan is not. Their deadline for documents was February 15th.

When you submitted your CSS Profile, it told you which schools were IDOC schools and if a school wasn’t an IDOC school, it told you what documents you needed to submit.

The deadline for IDOC is March 1st, so get crackin’!

To verify the IDOC status of these schools, check their financial aid info on their websites, it says everything.

Wesleyan does use IDOC according to this list and their finaid website…

IDOC is just a service provided by the CollegeBoard to colleges that subscribe to it. Some schools that use the CSS Profile also use IDOC, others do not. It is merely a way to send them copies of your tax documents. When you submitted your Profile you should have received an email with instructions for IDOC.

That is very odd. It says that Wesleyan is an IDOC school, but when I submitted my CSS Profile, the only IDOC schools that popped up for me were Smith, Williams, Amherst and Vassar. Wesleyan wasn’t on that list.

I checked their website and printed out all information regarding their financial aid procedure; IDOC never popped up.

EDIT: Just checked their website again. It states:
Please note that Wesleyan does not participate in IDOC for prospective students. Documents must be mailed to the office. We are unable to accept e-mail attachments or a fax.

^
Those lists are not woth much. Best to respond to the requests you get. e.g. for me I sent IDOC to CB for Dartmouth and Northwestern,
Brown didn’t want it from me and Cornell wanted it faxed or mailed.

Yup. I agree with Blaw’s post. Look at the individual school’s website for financial aid info. And pay attention to emails from Collegeboard!

Wesleyan does NOT use IDOC for prospective students. Once admitted then all future years are done through it. I mailed in all the forms and the award came with the acceptance letter, but all documents were hard copy and snail mail (with a receipt)

And Northeastern University only requires IDOC submission if one is chosen for verification, not for the initial financial aid submission (only FAFSA and CSS Profile required).

ok so Ive applied to Georgetown, amoung others… and originally they wanted my stuff from IDOC, not they dont… im thinking its likely that theyve rejected me already… what dya think?

I don’t think you should assume that at all, Fredrina. It seems Georgetown’s relationship to IDOC is a smidge confused. I doubt it has anything at all to do with the status of your admissions application.

Ugh this is so annoying, why can’t the schools be clear on whether they need IDOC or not? But thanks everyone for your help, I will complete it this weekend. Can they accept the form after the deadline?

^^You should also be aware that College Board takes a few days to process your documents and make them available to your colleges once your package has been recieved by them. In our case, it took 4 days and that was mid-February.
