A chance to make a difference; take it.

I am watching American Idol right now and I am so happy that such a powerful show is finally using it's power and resources to make a difference. I donated to the cause and I will continue to do so. Also, think about the real problems these people have and maybe some of the kids on the board will realize that they should be happy to receive any education. Their life will not be over just because they did not get into their "dream" school".

These articles sum up what I feel about these type of things.

http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=3979

http://www.spiegel.de/international/spiegel/0,1518,363663,00.html

Good intentions for sure. It's nice and all, but...hollow. More of a chance for most organization and people to feel good about themselves, self-masturbation, etc. Kind of cynical I guess, but whatever.

omg. The Josh Groban song made me cry. Ugh. :( It also inspired me. I wnat to do what I can to help the situation.

daiikon, I read the second article and a lot of what he said made sense. Whether or not it will work is another thing.
