Did anyone else have their IDP date recently? Reactions, observations, comments…?

Sevenstars - I hope your audition went well and that your own impressions and reactions to Bard were all positive!

I think it did! I was a little nervous for the audition…it took place in Olin Hall and was videotaped for the faculty to review later, which was not what I had expected at all. (I had pictured a small room and a panel of faculty listening to me). I had a good impression of the school overall though. I’m fairly confident that I will be admitted to the college, but the conservatory could go either way…

hiiii!!!
I did IDP on the first day, November 5th. I was like super super worried hahahaa. I looked at the readings and was kind of like “ahh ehhh this is so much material the seminar could be intimidating.”

REALLY THOUGH…THE DAY WAS GOOD! First we went into the admissions building and listened to the head of admissions speak a little bit about Bard and the day we had ahead of us. Then we went to our seminars (there were two sections for the group) and we discussed the Plato document only. I didn’t take notes…just high lighted and had notes in the margins but other kids went all out! In the end it didn’t make much of a difference…it really is true that it does not count towards your admission to the school… My interview was good too! Make sure to be really out going about WHY BARD is for you and what you want to bring to the bard community. GOOD LUCK! Do NOT do NOT worry (even though I’m sure you will because I did) YOU WILL DO GREAT!

My letter should be coming tomorrow… cross your fingers for me!

Wish I could have done IDP! Sadly I live 3000 miles away. I applied EA. Good luck to all of you who did, youreastonefox my fingers are crossed :)

Sevenstars and Youreastonefox; best of luck to you both, and Youreastonefox, thanks for sharing your experience (I’ll pass it on to my S, who doesn’t come near CC since it stresses him out way too much!) His IDP is towards the end of the month.

I got my acceptance letter today!

^ How cool is that? Congratulations!!!

I got my acceptance!! :)

Yay! Good for you two! Now keep your fingers crossed for my daughter. Tell me, did you know you were going to get in, really high stats and everything, or could it have gone either way? I’m wondering about my daughter’s chances.

not at all!
i go to a nyc private school but have b’s and a couple c’s. I didn’t submit my sat scores either…however I am a serious artist and have done a number of impressive pre college summer programs (RISD, MICA) and exchange programs. I am very involved in school and an outgoing person and leader. My interview got me in. Everyone has a chance! Don’t worry have faith in your daughter!

Congratulations to all! You can all breathe easier now knowing you have a great choice in the bag. Sevenstars - did you get into the conservatory, too?

I wasn’t totally sure that I would get in. I thought that I would have a very good chance (my stats are in line with Bard’s, and the IDP is an extra boost) but I certainly didn’t consider it “in the bag.”

No, I didn’t get into the conservatory :(. It’s OK though…they already have 4 flutes, so the chances of being offered a spot were really low.

@danceclass- like youreastonefox said…have faith in your daughter!! everyone has a shot :)

Congrats sevenstars and youreastonefox!!! Now also keep your fingers crossed for my S!

Danceclass, I’ve got them crossed for your D as well.

My daughter is in IDP! She’s thrilled. Now I am trying to do another thorough search just to make sure there is no place else she should consider. The more I find out about Bard, the more impressed I am. The more we compare with the approaches of other schools we visit, the more it stands out. And it is a great match for her interests. Her scores/grades are actually turning out to be stronger than when we started this process and she has outstanding recs, activities and a clear focus. I want to make sure she’s not overlooking options, but I keep being more and more taken with Bard.

Ya I did the IDP on November 5th also and got in!! Im NOT applying anywhere else, there is just no other college where i could see myself other then this one!
And i guess i’ll see all of you other accepted students during L&T!

She’s in! My daughter got her acceptance letter. What a relief! She’s definitely going. We’ll probably go ahead and send in the deposit even though they give you until May.
Now I can relax and offer advice if needed: My daughter is a solid B student at a private school in Manhattan, she did not submit SAT scores, and she’s a gifted dancer, a risk taker, and does a lot of community service.

Btw, she hated the seminar for IDP. She felt like everybody was falling over themselves to get noticed, and they kept going off on tangents. But fortunately she had taken a seminar there a few weeks ago during an open house which was much better run, so she wasn’t turned off on Bard itself.

I got my acceptance letter (and my conservatory rejection letter but I knew going in that it is very hard to get in as a pianist there with 85 students in the whole conservatory) two weeks ago today! =D i was/am so happy i wish i could fill out the enrollment agreement now but my parents are wisely saying that i have to wait and see where else i get in. the name of the game now is to see what can trump Bard, so we’ll see what happens! Congrats to everyone!!

Congrats, musicbiochem )and danceclass, momwonders and oscartine too)!! My S is impatiently waiting for his yes or no (he did IDP on the 20th). He had hoped he’d get the letter yesterday, but with Thanksgiving, its obviously delayed.
