all international students are required to take one of these tests to waive off their english requirement.
now I am confused as to which one to go for.
which one would be easier to score high ?
I know TOEFL is more reputable than IELTS.
I am good at english and scoring well at any of these should not be an issue but which one would be more reputable and widely recognized compared to the other ?
thanks for your suggestions and inputs. :)

You need to check the websites of the colleges and universities that you will apply to, so that you can find out whether they want one exam or the other.

hey thanks a lot for the suggestion but most of the ones I checked accepted either of them.
but since I am going to apply to canadian universities as well, where they don’t need the SAT scores at all , I guess for two candidates with same high school scores , IELTS or TOEFL scores might be deciding factors (unlike american universities where it is just about clearing the test and the rest is decided by SAT and high school grades).
so I guess for someone like me planning for a canadian university , IELTS or TOEFL becomes quite important.
but I am too confused-which one will be more prestigious among the two with exactly like percentiles ?
-I might sound crazy but I guess its too important to know before starting to prepare.
thanks :)

Well, I did the TOEFL because its easier and most universities want it,Canada ,America, UK but I think UK prefers IELTS but most of them accept toefl as well

I have not taken the IELTS myself, but listening to others gave me the impression that it’s harder to get a top IELTS score than a top TOEFL score. I got perfect subscores on the reading, writing and listening sections of the TOEFL when I was unable to read a novel or a college-level textbook without a dictionary. The IELTS seems to set the bar much higher.

If you need a high score, take the TOEFL. If you are hoping to impress with near-native fluency, take the IELTS :)

IELTS is ,I think, easier than Toefl, espectially in speaking part. But if you decide to study in US , You should take Toefl .

I took the Ielts and consider it easier than the toefl.
