I got my IELTS score recently with a total score of 7.5 or an equivalent of 107- 109 on the TOEFL. I scored 8.5 in both reading and listening and 7 on the writing which was quite perfect for me; however, my speakig section was awful: 6.5 and this prevented me from getting an 8 since I got 7.625. I’m afraid that this score would be an obstacle for me with college admissions. Sincerely, I got miserable news on the speaking test day and that’s why I wasn’t able to do my best. My question is first, can I fix this score during the interview with the admission officer as they would listen to me and explain why my speaking score is inconsistent with the other scores and second, would he or she comprehend that if I explained the circumstances during the test and how it affected me?
