IEOR and Econ

i want to double in industrial engineering and organization research and economics, and was wondering if anybody thinks this is a good idea or could help me in the process...

i'm currently in l&s as a freshmen and would need to transfer into the college of engineering. how hard would this be?

thanks in advance!

you might want to look into ORMS, it's pretty much the L&S equivalent of IEOR, & it wouldn't require you having to switch over to CoE

However, ORMS is capped at 25 students.

is it hard to get into orms? harder than getting into haas?

i tried looking for admission stats for orms but couldn't find any. does anyone know the stats on how many apply and get accepted and such?

also, when do most ORMS majors apply? after fall of their 2nd year or spring?

Once a year in February I think (though it may be ongoing-it's a new major). You can apply your 1st or 2nd year.

It's a good idea, but you need to keep a high GPA to have a chance of admittance. 3.7+ is what I feel a decent shot b/c you're transferring from l&s. However, plan for contingency situations.

I looked into ORMS and i think that fits very well, since the only prereqs left for me to complete are math 54 and ba10. What worries me is the cap at 25 students. I should be done with all my prereqs by end of next semester, but I fear not getting in due to the cap.

Does anyone know how difficult it is to actually get in without being put on the waitlist?

It varies in difficulty based on who applied during your time, and how many. There are no public statistics available given that it is a new major.

According to the ORMS advisor, there are currently 34 students on the waitlist. The earliest I can declare for the major is after my 2nd year fall semester. Do I even have a shot of getting in?

Also, I realized you need to declare the major before you reach 80 units. Is it possible to disregard AP and IB credit if you're about to go over the limit?
