If a college asks you to apply...

Not too long ago, I got a email from Northeastern
They said something like apply before Jan 15th, then I will get my application fee waived.

So, I am wondering if Northeastern will accept me 100%. I don't want to spend too much time on anymore essays so, I was just going to write a quick one.
They will accept me right?

They probably saw your SAT report and want people like you to apply. If they haven’t seen your grades, not a sure thing.

northeastern has no supplemental essays anyway.

They may accept you, but unless you have submitted your entire application, including the school stuff, ECs and Rec Letters, you have no idea. They got your email from a test answer sheet or something that you filled out. And they bought the mailing list from College Board or the like. Not to deflate your balloon, but it is not a sure thing… nothing is, these days. You are probably within their selectivity criteria, but that’s about it. Apply and see what happens.

They probably accept like 80% of the students they give that too…

I also got this from Northeastern.

Butler, U of Cincinnati, Rennselaer, St. John’s in NY and the like, sent similar e-mails too. They prolly get scores and other data from CollegeBoard.

I wouldn’t read an invitation to apply as a sure-fire admissions offer. Frankly, unless you really can see yourself there or really need more back ups to your initial slew of choices, I’d skip it.

However, if your research into NE does spark you, then by all means, throw your hat into the ring – and see IF they accept you. But nothing is 100% here

I got the same thing from Tulane a few years ago and I got accepted.

They will almost definitely accept you. Keyword: almost.

They send these things to tens of thousands without knowing anything but an SAT score. It guarantees nothing.
