If a college sends you PRIORITY MAIL ($3.85 package)

Does it mean a lot or something minute? I got a big package from Colgate, another big one with their course cirriculum in another big package, letters of encouragement to apply, letter of campus structure. Do only the good schools do this to all hopefuls or does this mean I have a good chance?

Don't know anything about you, so coudn't tell you.

Good Luck,

jerod

I think they do it to all hopefuls.

I got a similar package from Princeton and there is no way they are actively recruiting me (I didn't cure cancer or score a 1600, not to say that means I'm worthless).

Sorry to have to tell you that because I wish it meant they really liked me and Colgate really likes you.

Hmm..economics:

The benefits (of their application fee $50 +-) will outweigh the costs ($3.85 to send mail) if you send in an app.

that's pretty much what I was thinking, "we'll make you think you can get accepted, but you really can't"

thing is, apparently they are a school which heavily emphasizes diversity and im thinking maybe they are looking to fill some "quotas"

haha some of the top schools want more applicants so they can boast a lower acceptance rate (thereby improving their US news standing).

lol intersting theory.. Mailing doens't cost too mcuh in their overall budget. I'm spending more than that to e-mail stuff courier from canada for sure :p

yeah colgate sent me that too
