<p>It is not a “usual” question that girls ask guys, if that’s what you were wondering. It’s really hard to know what was going through her head without hearing her tone. Maybe she was being sarcastic. Maybe she’s just a bit odd and asks odd questions.</p>

<p>I was talking to her during a break. I don’t remember how the conversation started. She asked me questions about my major, about my hobbies, about my interests. Things like that. One question led to another and the next thing I knew she asked me if I had friends.</p>

<p>That would lead me to think she wanted to hear about your friends and she just worded it in a really weird way. While I can’t imagine asking someone if they have friends, if I am not totally paying attention to my words I could see myself saying, “so do you have a group of friends?” or something like THAT to segue into what your friends are like, which isn’t a far jump from what she actually said.</p>

<p>If it were me (because I’ve asked that question before), I would probably honestly want to know if you had friends. You said she was asking you a bunch of questions about your life. Maybe you’re a busy guy and she was just wondering if you even have time for a social life. Maybe she was meaning it as an invitation for you to join her social life…</p>

<p>Instead of displaying tact or showing sympathy for what she imagined your situation was, she wanted to confirm that you have no friends because it would make a mildly amusing story to tell her friends later. “The kid had NO friends hahaha.”</p>
