If a school is interested in me...

Well here is the deal. I am a freshman and I am going to be applying for fall transfer 09'. If I send my apps out around late December- early January, if the schools is interested in me, will they send a letter back requestiing second semester grades? Would a school contact me asking for grades even if they werent interested? What would a school do if they didnt want me? Flat out reject me?

Thanks guys!

transferring after only one year with one semester worth of grades is always hard, so you should be applying to colleges you could have gotten into for freshman admissions

they will only ask for mid term grades if you are right on the border…if you are not a competitive applicant they won’t ask, same thing if your an overwhelmingly strong applicant

I wouldn’t so much say it means they’re interested in you as much it means they haven’t discounted you yet. For example with NYU if you don’t get accepted but get put on the waitlist, they’ll ask you to submit your midterm grades by May 1st. Then make a decision based on that. And yes generally if a school doesn’t want you or doesn’t think you’re what they’re looking for, they’ll flat out reject you.

Though even with some schools upon acceptance they’ll tell you your grades in your current semester do matter and poor performance can lead them to withdraw your acceptance.. Which may be more of a scare tactic but still, good idea to continue to do well on your second semester regardless.

Good luck!

Well I know I definitely have the grades for transferring to decent schools. My ECs are pretty good too as with SAT scores and other major factors.
