Just trying to get some further information as my D decides where she's going to attend...

If you were accepted and plan on attending, why Southwestern? If not, why not?

Where else have you applied/been accepted?

My D is accepted at Southwestern, TCU and St. Edwards, still waiting to hear back from Trinity and SMU.

Really love the small school atmosphere, the attention from professors, etc....but wonder if the academic opportunities to minor in multiple things might not be there.

I’ve been accepted to Southwestern and Willamette University so far. I’m still waiting to hear from several women’s colleges and other liberal arts colleges. It is likely that I will not go to Southwestern since I really want to head out-of-state.

Good luck at your other schools!! my D visited a womens college for a summer program - enjoyed the program but decided not to apply at the school. Congrats on the 2 acceptances - I am sure you’ll end up someplace great.

mememom: my D has not decided - she was deferred from another top choice school and so waiting to hear back from them before she decides. Also waiting on scholarship offers from others. So far, Southwestern is my top choice for her and they have been very generous with aid. Just trying to be patient until April 1st notification from other school so D can really decide - Southwestern is 1st in line if the other school doesn’t accept her OR if their aid package doesn’t come close to theirs.

cgpm59: thanks! don’t have any questions right now - but if I do I will send you a message.

Okay, ausmom. We also live about 15 minutes from Georgetown, if you have “off campus” questions. Unless the “aus” in your name means “Austin,” in which case, you already know that stuff! :)

thanks, cgpm59! Yes, we are in Austin so know the ins and outs of the area. the school has been great about contacting my D, and she has talked to lots of students - we went to an alumni event too so have had interaction, besides the college visit. Like I said, this really comes down to what the other college decides, and then a numbers crunch to see what gets us out the least painfully!!

Well we got the official word yesterday that D is in at Trinity, her top choice. The packet came in mail today - they didn’t come close to Southwestern on their first offer but we’ll have to figure it out I guess. She’s really been set on Trinity all along. I hope your son continues to enjoy it there!

Ausmom – Trinity is an awesome school. DS applied there and was waitlisted, but we hadn’t really talked to the coach of his sport at that point, so didn’t pursue it any further. I hope they can come up with some more money for you. I went to “church camp” at Trinity many many years ago and it was such a cool place.
