There are problems with the scoring. D's school is small, so they can't store the exams and ship them right back- that's why they heard about the problem today. The first 7 questions on the listening section didn't allow the proper time for answers, so the kids are being offered two options. One, retake the exam on 5/20 or, some sort of alternate scoring of the errant questions. The testing service hasn't come up with a firm answer as to what "alternate scoring" would mean so it's not known if it would help or hurt. At this point,D does NOT want to take the test again as she and her teacher feel that the exam taken was a good fit with the way the class (all 3 of them!) had prepared, so taking a chance on another 3 1/2 hour test woudn't be a positive action! I really feel badly for her and all of the kids who prepped for this difficult exam and who now, through no fault of their own, may have had a good score ripped away from them. I understand that mistakes happen, but this sort of thins should not have occurred. It's hard to believe, but something very similar took place in one of my teacher cert. exams a "while ago"- the timing was off on the response questions, so they had to decide what answers stood and which would be tossed out. If your son/daughter took this test and hasn't heard about the problem yet, they will soon- one look at the kid's face will tell you if their teacher has told the class!

Here is a link from another CC Forum which explains a bit more:

Thank you for posting this in this section. I never would have seen it otherwise. And my daughter would have never known, as she self-studied for the test. We’ll follow up.
