<p>...why do they require the ACT "with writing" if one is submitting the ACT? </p>
<p>If I understand ACT scoring correctly, the essay just has its own little score (out of 12?) and doesn't factor into any of the 4 subscores or the main composite score. So if Cornell doesn't look at that essay score, and I'm pretty sure they've said they don't, why require it?</p>
