i m currently soph
i think there are about 700soph in my school
if 3.68 of gpa(weighted) is about 10%, how good is my school???

It is probably the same as mine. A 3.8 (weighted) is top 10% here.

i mean 3.68, not 3.8...

Well my school sucks. The average SAT is barely approaching 890.

my top 10% is like straight A's. That doesn't mean my school is better. It could mean that my school is easier. My school however is ranked in the top 25 high schools in the country and has a 1210/1600 average score

my school doesn't rank but there is a good number of people who have had near perfect grades for the past couple years.

3.68 weighted sounds really low. Of course, depending on the number of AP/Honors courses offered, GPA can be dramatically altered. Also, your school may have high standards, and thus give out low grades.

I'd look more at average SAT/AP/ state standardized test scores to determine if your school is a "good" school.

my school. . . like top 10 in northern california. . . 3.8 weighted is top 30 percent. . . stupid community college courses

My school gives out really easy grades. One reason why a 3.8 is approximately top 10% is because the students don't do they work. They mostly cut class and I do end up going to a class with two other students in it. This usually happens during first period and last period.

wow, for top 10% at my school, you gotta have above a 4.0

Same here, top 10% weighted at my school is like 4.2 or higher. Grade inflation does play a role, though.

I guess top 10% at my school is probably around a 4.3-4.4 or higher.

Yeah my school top 10% at ranking time (end of junior year) was 3.88 unweighted and 4.21 weighted.

i think my best friend is barely in the top 10%, and she has a 4.29...

i think im just in the top 10% with a 4.7 weighted...

yea.

insane.

oh wait nevermind, thats top 5%...top 10% is 4.4 or 4.5 here.

everyone in the top 5% has a 4.8 or above... my school is insane

i think my friends has a 4.14 and she is 14/694 i think...
my school offered weighted classes,ap bio, honor chem, ap calc,english3
ap english, ap euro, ap us history,3 ap languages.
she is a junior,so maybe she took honor chem,ap euro, honor english3,ap us history.

I have a 3.7 unweighted and I'm top 20%. Unfortunately, our school does not rank weighted GPAs, so a LOT of highly ranked students have dropped out of honors/AP courses -- or taken none -- to maintain a higher GPA while taking Gym, Home Ec, Art, etc. My weighted GPA is around a 3.81; unfortunately, only a few APs are offered at our school and our GPA doesn't account for any honors/gifted classes prior to junior year (when most people can begin taking AP classes, unless they take AP Stat in 10th grade -- but that's it).

Our average SAT is around 1100-1150 I believe.
