Hey guys, I am an international student living outside US, and it looks like there is no way that I can attend any of the five sessions. I've received the information packet on the orientation several days ago, since I'm living overseas and it takes weeks and weeks to arrive in the mail. So, I've missed the deadline for registration. And as far as I know, the CAS orientations are mandatory. And also, due to some visa and financial problems, I cannot attend the orientation. There is no way that I can arrive before August. What are the consequences of not attending the orientation? Can I still register for my classes and take the examinations?
I'm freaking out - even in the faq section it repeated that all CAS students are expected to attend.

I'm pretty sure that there is a CAS orientation during welcome week, and although you may not get an optimal schedule, it is nothing to stress about. There are many other international students in a similar position who whether due to financial or other reasons can not attend the ones during the summer.

thanks, i verified that by calling them... there is an August orientation arranged for international students and others... i guess i'll have to attend one of those sessions, although i might not receive the optimal schedule :|

hey jonelle im in the same situation except im not considered a international student since i have green card and my address is my sister's apartment's address. should i call them or are they just automatically put me in the august one?

^ Anyone who is in a special situation and cannot attend the summer orientations are expected to attend the august one. And the deadline for the registration for the summer sessions already passed, so the only option left is to attend the august sessions during the Welcome Week. The good news is, the august orientation does not require $295 fee, since the dorms open before the first session held in August 26th.
