so my GPA is weighted at 4.1 with an unweighted at roughly 3.6. My SAT is 2050 (710 writing, 690 math, 650 reading) and my EC’s are average at best. Just looking at the numbers i’d say I’m a borderline applicant…however my senior year first semester is going great so far and I have a 3.8 unweighted with a 4.8 weighted. (two AP’s, three honors+concert band). i feel like my senior year could really help me out. personally i kind of want to just send all of my applications ASAP. i was wondering if i should just apply now and they’ll either take long enough to see my senior year grades or just defer me and then accept me later, or if i should just wait till it gets closer to the deadline?

i mention this because i went to a presentation of theirs at my school and the admissions rep seemed to emphasize that they like the fact that seniors are taking classes seriously and challenging themselves

My son got in with pretty much exactly your stats, even the upswing senior year and a similar number of APs (his public high school is rigorous but philosophically against offering a lot of APs). He had extremely similar SAT scores, but submitted his ACTs which were a little better, percentile-wise. He applied at the January deadline and got in for the class of 2016. If you apply for the earlier deadline, not only are you eligible for the merit scholarships (don’t sell yourself short!), but it also shows interest, so it may be an advantage to apply early. You can always have your guidance counselor send your midyear senior grades to BU as soon as they are available. (Plus, constantly feeding them information is like demonstrating interest and keeping you on their radar.) Also, don’t you fill in what classes you are now taking on the Common App? Even though they don’t know what your grades are, they will still know what you are taking, won’t they? I can’t remember. Anyway, I think you have a good shot.
