Okay, so here's the story. I passed English Language last year, and since UCLA only takes credit for passing one english AP test, I don't see why I should try to pass the English Literature test. But I already paid for the test!
So if i just take the test and cancel my score, can UCLA do anything? The reason this is bothering me is because, if I recall correctly, there was a part in the UC app that asked for what exams we were going to take. Help? Thanks!

???.. Just take the test if you paid for it.

I don’t think the application said anything about AP tests. It asked for tests like SAT subject tests that you will take.

Why would you cancel the score? If you already paid there’s no point.

Because I don’t plan on doing the exam at all when Thursday comes… I’m gonna just drawing little kitties and unicorns and bubble in a monster match for the MC Okay, maybe not, but a 1 or a 2 would make me extremely sad, and I only paid $5 for the exam :D

did you pass or get a 4/5? i think you need a 4 to get all possible benefits.

Umm I got a 3, so all I get is my writing requirement fulfilled. But even if I studied my astronaut off, I could never get a 4/5 for Lit! I’m asian! And asians tend to be not that great in english haha.

There’s not much you can study for the English tests. Anyway, if you get something extra it’s worth it to go for a 4.

You have to take Eng 3 if you don’t pass AP English with a 4 or 5. You should just take it to get rid of the Eng 3 requirement.

You are only exempt from entry level writing test with a 3 unfortunately.

Ooops sorry I worded that funky. Yeah, that’s what i meant, confidentiality. haha. But enough with telling me to take the test! Can UCLA actually take back my admission just if I cancel my lit test score?

how about you call them and ask with a fake name so you can have plausible deniability if they give you an answer you weren’t looking for

I contacted them about this. They told me that not writing APs doesn’t change your admission.

Hey that’s not true! I’m asian and I’m great in english! All I do is write! I’m a history major for crying out loud!

lol your name is notaznguy, and you’re asian…epic

Okay to clarify.

You will not be revoked admission if you fail/skip an AP exam. It is not part of the provisional contract. You could get 1’s in all your AP exams and it won’t matter. They only use AP exams to give you unit credit. Just don’t fail any AP classes and you are fine in terms of admission.

So I am exempt from ever having to take english again in ucla if i have gotten a 4 on the ap english test?

You still have to take a writing II course (like Eng 4w), but after that you don’t ever have to take English class again if it is not related to your major.
