If I despise history with a passion and don't take APUSH, will colleges think I am lazy?

History will never have anything to do with my major (I don't know what it will be yet, but it won't be related to history.) I am taking AP Euro this year (10th grade) and it is so boring. There is so much work and nothing is practical in my mind. I do not see a point in learning what the hell happened to Louis IX or even someone from my own country like McCarthy. Next year my counselor has me enrolled in APUSH, but I am considering something a little less tedious and more sensible, like AP Comp Science. Will colleges discard me if I don't have the serious AP history course load on my transcript? My ECs are okay -- mostly volunteer work and club participation with sports. I don't need to be reminded that my ECs can balance it all out. I just want to know if APUSH is one of the more important courses colleges seek. (Hoping not.)

You don’t need to take AP US History. Colleges don’t expect any specific AP class.

In high school it’s not really the history itself so much as the skills you get from reading about it and thinking about it. In theory, taking AP humanities classes will help improve your writing and make you more culturally literate. Most people don’t care about this stuff, so don’t think you’re being all counterculture by complaining about it.

Nope, a lot of kids at my school take USH over the summer to get it over with. It’s a good idea if you don’t like history. I don’t know specifically if colleges like that or not, but my friend did it and she’s going to Berkeley now. Idk
