If I don't get into Direct Admit for Business

What will happen to me? For CS/CE, there seems to be a pre-major designed for this. However, I'm confused on what things will look like for me if I'm not accepted to Foster Business for Direct Admit. Is there a pre-business major or will I automatically be enrolled for my second intended interest?

My unofficial transcript right now reads that my major is PRE-MAJOR(A&S).

Btw, I already know what the A&S means.

Just take all required pre-reqs for Business…http://admit.washington.edu/apw/BAAPW-2013.pdf</a></p>

@NinRash Yes, I know that already. I’m asking about my major, specifically.

@lyndak you want to major in business, correct? If you are not a direct admit, you won’t be automatically enrolled in your 2nd option, you will be a pre-major of some sort…which means nothing, it is just a code for their system to say that you aren’t enrolled in a major yet. There is no “pre-business” major, there is no “pre-” anything major, by taking the pre-reqs in hopes of enrolling later, you are technically “pre-business”, sure.

@NinRash Okay. Let me revise my question. You’re saying there is no Pre-Business Program for undergraduates at UW? I will instead me enrolled into a pre-major that will not be business-related. What kind of programs are available for undergraduates who want to later apply as a business majors?

Business is a “competitive” major at UW…meaning there is no guaranteeing that you will ever get in. You have to get accepted with good grades, test scores, and essays. Like I said above, there is no “program”, you take the pre-reqs and other general ed courses and get good grades(3.5+gpa) and then you apply for business, and you’ll likely get in. That’s it. UW has no “pre-major” programs…by taking the pre-reqs and planning on majoring in a major, you are in that major’s “pre-major” program if you want to call it that.

lyndak - Here a link to how to apply to the business school as an existing UW student: <a href=“Undergraduate Programs | Foster School of Business”>Undergraduate Programs | Foster School of Business;

Here is a link to the classes you have to complete prior to applying: <a href=“Undergraduate Programs | Foster School of Business”>Undergraduate Programs | Foster School of Business;

Good luck!

Please don’t say the obvious. I already know that business is a “competitive” major at UW. Why are you being so aggressive with your comments? I never asked about the competitiveness or my chances of getting in.

Also, it looks like you haven’t gotten into UW yet. Is this why your so sour? You are being extremely rude and I think it’s because you haven’t gotten in yet while I have. If that’s the case, there’s no reason to be relieving your stress by speaking to me in a condescending way, telling me that “there is no guaranteeing that I will ever get in.” You do not have the right to say that to me.

With that said, I will say that I think you are incorrect about the UW having no “pre-major” programs. They offer pre-major programs for Pre-Dental, Pre-Medical, Pre-Optometry, Pre-Veterinary, and Pre-Engineering. These are all undergraduate programs at UW.

I sense a ■■■■■, lol…no those are not programs at UW. The process is the same, you take the pre-reqs. Show me someone with a BS in Pre-Med. I am a junior at UW this fall actually. And I do have the right? There is no guarantee of anything!

By “competitive” I mean it is one of the majors at UW that require acception…not one where you can apply directly and be coded as that major. I apologize if you mis-understand my points or stance. I have been accepted for this fall, so no I am not sour because of anything.

From http://admit.washington.edu/node/152</a></p>

"Pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-optometry, pre-veterinary medicine and pre-law are not undergraduate majors at the UW, but rather recommended programs of study that prepare you to apply to professional programs. Your choice of major does not affect your chances of admission to a professional program; we recommend choosing a major that you love, with coursework that you enjoy. "

“To be “pre-med” means you are embarking on a course of study aimed at preparing you for to apply to a medical school (or other post-graduate health profession). It means you are taking the classes and gaining the experiences that these schools look for in qualified applicants.”

We have politely answered your question multiple times now, and you have repeatedly ignored it, trying to start an argument, accusing me of something false, and more. ■■■■■ case closed.

@NinRash

I never said that these were majors. I said that they were PROGRAMS, and that is in fact accurate. The website lists them as PROGRAMS. Again, I revised my question and asked if there were Pre-Business PROGRAMS just like there are Pre-Dental, Pre-law, Pre-Med PROGRAMS for students who want to go into these fields.Please read my comment.

And oh, you’re a junior this fall? RIIIIGGGHTT.

Take a look here: <a href=“Official Fall 2014 Decisions Thread - #601 by Penang118 - University of Washington - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/university-washington/1624048-official-fall-2014-decisions-thread-p41.html</a>

You’re in the 2018 Decisions thread. You were actually accepted this past week as a freshman and your unofficial transcript lists you as a junior but you are NOT a junior. Don’t lie. Please, it’s disgusting. YOU are the ■■■■■. Please stop ■■■■■■■■ around saying that you are a “junior” going into UW when you’re actually a first-year student just like I will be.

And what? “We have politely answered your question multiple times now…” POLITELY? Really? You think you answered my question POLITELY?

I am listed as a JUNIOR because i have 96 college credits

All of this aside, we have answered your question. There is no pre-business “program”. Please see my or @MSNDIS comment for how to become a business major. Hope you have a nice weekend.

@NinRash

But you are not a junior. You cannot be a junior unless you transfer. This is not possible at the UW. Everyone is admitted as a freshman unless they are a transfer student. Since transfer results haven’t come out yet, you are obviously a freshman. Again, stop with the lying as you are now, saying you are a “junior” and what not. Yes, you may be LISTED as a junior but you are not a junior. This fall will be your first year as a student.

“■■■■■ case closed.”

A junior is someone between 90 and 135 credits. I will be a first year UW student, coded as a junior due to my college credit count because of running start, I am fully aware of this, why do you care?

A transfer student is no different from me other than maybe our age, and the fact that I applied as a freshman because I will not take any college classes after HS until I go to UW. A transfer “junior” is still a first yr UW student, just like I will be this fall. I am a very kind person, just see my previous posts in other threads and even my answer to you at the beginning of this on. You asked the same question over and over, and continue to personal attack me even though your question has been answered. Maybe you are mad because you don’t have 96 college credits or your AA? I don’t know, I don’t care. I tried helping and you didn’t want it, if you want to continue to attack me, go ahead. Say what you want. It’s a free country and you can say what you want, so go for it! This is an internet forum, nothing you say really matters to me in terms of insults, attacks, or anything really. But in my opinion, you have gotten your answer, move on. If you do choose to try and argue with me, then I feel bad for you.

I care because you called me out, accusing me of being a ■■■■■ for misunderstanding a certain concept about the way things are run at the UW. Your ignorance is apalling.

see edit

@lyndak If you were directly admitted to Foster you would have been notified by now. Simple as that. No need to make an ordeal out of something so basic.

@jackechan no one’s been notified of direct admission to Foster yet, so no

@jackechan

Yeah, no one has been notified yet. Please don’t act like you know something when you obviously don’t. :/// It would be really sad if I didn’t know the truth and believed what you said. Not all CC users are aware so if you aren’t sure, don’t spread rumors please.
