whats a good back up major i could take my first year that would help me if i wanted to transfer into the business school after my first year?

u don't declare ur major until after ur 1st year. Ur 1st year, u just take core classes (such as English, Govt, Bio....) So u can transfer after ur 1st year. No biggie

^ what if you are in cockrell majoring in engineering?

well i've already placed out of freshman english, govt. and economics. so you declare a major after your first year? i thought we declared our first 2 majors when we sent in our application?

You do declare a major when you send in your application, but McCombs is different. In McCombs, you are an undeclared business major your freshman year. After you have completed certain courses, then you can declare a major such as accounting or finance.

Declare the one you are most likely to make the best grades in. Sign up for electives that you can ace. Don't declare natural sciences or engineering or the first year sciences that you take will be the more difficult-for science majors, with labs.

Liberal Arts is a good choice. Take classes to cover hours you'll need as a business major. With your 1st Eng, govt. and econ taken care of, you can take Sophomore Eng. the 2nd govt course (you have to pass that texas test to get Ap credit for the 1st govt.), your 2 semester science requirement and calculus. You will also need hours in humanities, arts, etc.

Just make sure you keep your gpa up over a 3.5 or so and you shouldn't have a problem transferring into McCombs. The kids I know who did it transferred out of liberal arts.

ok thanks. i was thinking about majoring in economics the first year bc it seems good enought to where i can keep a high enought gpa for mccombs. hopefully i'll be accepted now so i dont have to transfer but who knows...

What do you mean by "majoring in economics the first year"? (Do you already have credit for Macro and Micro from AP classes?)

i'm in dual credit classes right now and i'm taking freshman eng, gov. and eco...thats what i mean by placing out. i'll already have credit for those classes when fall semester starts.
