I will begin the recruit process at the being of next school year, and I am wondering if I don’t get recruited by a school, will I still be looked at in admission?
Absolutely. That’s how every non-athlete ends up there. YOU will have to be competitive on that basis, in other words as though your sport is an EC, not a hook.
@gardenstategal thanks for commenting, that is good to know.
Of course…the majority of students at a college are not recruited athletes. You will need to target schools that match your academic stats.
You can settle the question with some simple research. Golf recruiting is very small. The handicaps of college teams are generally posted. View them and compare yourself. You’d have to be a state-level champion or close to it to be recruited. What sorts of tourneys do you play? You’re a homeschooled student. Do you have a coach? What does he/she say about you?
If you are not recruited you can still be admitted but without that hook you will be competing with all applicants. Your stats etc. will need to be competitive.
Absolutely. One of our children ended up at her school that way. Initially recruited but not offered a spot on the team. Decided that attending that school was more important than the sport and applied ED. Now plays for their club team and couldn’t be happier.
