Or is ND a very powerful athletic enviornment where if you don't play a sport, they play you?

Also, are there any Physical Education requirements at ND? Like anything synonymous to Cornell's swim test where you have to pass it in order to graduate?

Swim test is the most useless thing ever (except to scope out all the hotties in the freshman class), you just have to swim form one side of the pool to the other and look like you might know what you are doing, then you’re done. And PE is chill, you can do CPR, yoga, walking, golf, weight lifting you can suck at all of them and just show up it’s no big deal, but you have to go. You’re usually better for it.

Wow, this thread is old. To answer your question you do not have to show up and take the swim test. If you do not take it, you are automatically enrolled in two cycles of swimming class. If you fail, you are likewise enrolled in two swimming cycles.

That’s quite possibly the worst reason I’ve ever seen not to apply to a college.

afraidtoapply, afraidtoswim, afraidto… oh come on people! Stop letting your fears conquer you and keep you from being great. Going through life being afraid of everything will not get you through college. College means taking initiative and pushing yourself into things that might make you uncomfortable. Why? Because those are the situations that truly let you know what kind of person you are.

I’m not trying to sound mean, but if this is all it takes to deter you from a great university, I don’t know what to say.

MIT, Cornell, and many other schools have swim test; are you going to take those off the list too. If you conquer the fear in college, your life will be easier. my mother is afraid to swim and of water, and this has greatly limited a lot of what she will do today. take the opportunity of a “free” swim class.

first. it’s ok if you do not play any sports
second. yeah there’s a swimming test in the first few weeks. check out the physical education website for more info.
third. you have to take two semesters of physical education. if you do not pass the swimming test, you have to take the swimming course
