If I drop an AP class next semester will colleges take back my acceptance?

At my school there is an AP gov class that is a semester long, and I am scheduled to take it next semester. Currently I am only taking two AP classes, world and bio. Every student (even those who are applying to ivys) taking the class first semester has basically urged me to switch to standard next semester. It's nearly impossible to get a B in because the teacher doesn't believe in giving grades higher than a C (????), let alone an A. They say that next semester if I don't switch I will have the worst end to a senior year, but I have already been accepted to some schools who have seen my senior year schedule.

If I drop AP Gov, would schools like Tulane, Northeastern, Forham, UW madison, UW seattle, and GW consider not accepting me? If so, I will suffer through it.

If you’re just stepping down a level, probably not. However, you would need to inform all the colleges of the change, so you might as well just go ahead and ask them before you finalize anything.

Was this not something that people knew last year when you were originally signing up for classes?

Very, very unlikely that a school will rescind you for that. Schools that haven’t accepted you yet might not like it–and it might hurt your chances–but a rescind is probably not going to happen.

So you take it and get a C - what’s the worst that could happen. Absolutely nothing, because they won’t rescind you for a C. As long as you can get a C, dropping it is the riskier option if you haven’t already been accepted.
