If I get accepted, can I choose a major different from what I chose in the application?

Can I choose a major different from what I have chosen in the application as primary and second interests?
i.e. I chose Aerospace Engineering. can I choose a different major from other schools or even a different major in the school of engineering in case of being accepted?

Yes, once you are accepted you can change majors to any school.

YESSSS!!! Case has a single door admissions policy. Once you are in, you are in and you can major in whatever you want. You can change majors and you can take classes in any area. However, if you said you wanted to be an English Major but secretly want to be an Electrical Engineer, your coursework in HS better have prepared you to be an Engineer (e.g., math and science). And if you start down the Chemistry path way and then decide to go Anthropology, you have to make sure you meet the requirements for your new major. But you don’t have to worry about “getting into the engineering school” or “you can’t take business classes because you are not a business major” at Case.
And if it is nursing for example, let Case know as they need to make sure there is clinical spots for everyone.

Why do people think it’s so hard to change majors? I thought most students changed majors at least once in theor college careers.

@Muad_dib At some universities a student is admitted to a particular college. They can only transfer to a different college after freshman year and it is competitive e.g. Carnegie Mellon.

While @TomSrOfBoston is entirely correct, nonetheless both of my daughters did change their majors after being accepted to universities (but different universities, not Case Western). One changed after she was accepted before she decided which university to attend, then changed again (to something sort of related) at the end of freshman year. The other changed from being a language major to a biology major, which is of course a big change. She did need to get approval and did need to have the grades to justify the switch.

Changing majors is very common. In many cases you need to get approval and your grades will matter.

My DD goes to TCNJ, a public NJ college. Its almost like the honors college of NJ so lots of pre-meds want to go there to get good schooling at a great value. But you can only have so many Bio majors…so when you apply you have to state what major you want. Some majors (Bio, engineering, CS) have limits but I think others done (eduation, psychology).
