If I get accepted, would I get rescinded for this?

Hey guys. I applied to Cal Poly Pomona for Electrical Engineering on October 1st(the very first day of the application window). CPP is far and away the school I want to go to after I had taken a tour of the campus back in March of this year. I would SIR immediately if I got in!

Here are the courses I’m taking this year:
Econ CP
Intro to Engr Desgn(My school has a “connection” with Pomona, even though this is the first year this course has been made available)
AP Calculus BC
AP Environmental Science
AP English Literature
Multimedia Sculpture I

I have As in Econ, Engineering, and BC, Bs in Multimedia and AP Lit(I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to get my grade in Multimedia up to an A by the end of the semester), and, sadly, a D in APES(It’s close to a C, but a D is a D. I’m awful in that class). Here’s my dilemma though. I REALLY want to get out of AP English Literature. That class just isn’t for me at all. I should’ve realized it last year in AP English Language that “AP English” isn’t for me at all since I didn’t pass the AP test for that class(The only AP test out of the 7 APs that I’ve taken/am enrolled in that I didn’t pass). I had a B in Lang both semesters last year, I’m pretty sure I’ll earn B’s again in Lit this year. My question is, would CPP look down upon me, or even rescind me, if I DID drop out at the end of the semester in January, even if I get a B or, somehow, an A? I submitted the application a long time ago, so there’s no going back and changing anything in it right now. If I were to drop out of AP Lit and take English Honors IV next semester, would that be giving off a bad impression, and would it potentially deny me admittance if I did get admitted? I also(kinda) want to drop Multimedia Sculpture for Art I, since I don’t really like the “sculpting” we’ve been doing even though the class itself is relatively easy and I’m confident I’ll end the semester with an A. Thanks for any input!

I think you can still update your application. The official closing is November 30th. I would contact the school admissions office, or better yet if you are close enough, drive over and talk to them in person. They have the ability to pull up your application. Another CSU did it for my niece. Yes they can rescind your acceptance for a D or any inconsistencies in your app. Good Luck to you, it is a great school with good job opportunities.

Hi Lakersince95,
I’m not sure what CPP would do but here is what happened with my daughter RE: AP English…she got a C first semester her junior year and switched to regular English her second semester and received As. Her dad thought her heavy math, science/plus Am. History (3 APs) deserved far more attention than English since she wanted to pursue engineering as her major. She is now a senior in HS and taking regular English (school doesn’t offer Honors English) and she made a 700 on writing SAT. She just received provisional acceptance for Fall 2013 for engineering. Best to contact CPP directly to relieve your worries rather than count on the forums though. Good luck… “OCmomof3”
