If I go Petroleum eng, will I end up jobless with a useless degree in 10 years?

I am a junior in High School now, so I won't be able to enter the workforce for five more years. Will the PetE boom be over by then? Will my skills be useless and non-transferable to any other field?

The PetE lifestyle looks like something I would enjoy, standing on an oil rig and making things run sounds like something I would love. No other engineering lifestyle seems enjoyable, the last thing I want to do is end up in a cubicle the rest of my life.
