2310 sat, 3.6 unweighed gpa, stellar AP's, 770 Literature SAT II, 720 MAth 1, Varsity Sports all year round, Eagle Scout etc, etc. lots of AP's, etc

Not focusing on specific stats, do you think that me being able to get deferred from Duke would mean I could get accepted to Vanderbilt? I would appreciate any help you all could give. Thanks!

I think you have a very good chance. I am a freshman at Vanderbilt now. Last year, I applied to Duke ED, got deferred, and then rejected regular decision. I applied regular to Vandy, got waitlisted, and then got off the waitlist the first day it opened, on May 3rd. I had a 3.3 unweighted GPA, 34 ACT, and really strong extracurriculars. Vandy focuses more on test scores than other top selective schools, and seeing as you have very strong scores, and a significantly better GPA than mine, I definitely think you could get in to Vandy regular.

Have you considered applying EDII to Vanderbilt?

After my experience here, I really don’t want to go Early Decision anywhere else. Plus, there’s always the hope that I could get in with the regular decision pool, so I don’t want to give up hope! And in addition, I still have been unable to visit Vanderbilt, so I don’t want to go ED somewhere I still have yet to visit. So yeah, I guess I will apply to Vandy regular! And what you said about test scores really gave me hope, thank you so much!

^Same thought process for me.
