If I got rejected to UCI, do I have a chance at UCSB?

After a rejection, UCSB is my only shot at a decent college. Do you think I can get in?

Weighted GPA: 3.7586 (I know it's pretty low)
Unweighted: 3.4138

SAT 1870, 1910
SAT 2 US History 720
SAT 2 Bio 600

Class rank 60/540

Marching band for 4 years (And section leader), some EC not much, hold officer positions in two clubs.

I don't know if my essays we're very good...

Income is less than 70k.
Asian
3 AP classes (APUSH, Stats, Lit)
5 on APUSH test
3 on Status

I’m wondering this too. Gl to you too man :[

UCI was my dream school and I really REALLY REALLY do not want to go to UCR.
Good luck! I hope we both get into UCSB to relieve some of this sadness.

^Yeah fersure man. Same situation :D

im stuck in the same situation - stats are a little different and im OOS… starting to get nervous because ive struck out with all the UCs ive heard from so far… :frowning: im REALLY hoping for UCSB

You of course do have a chance :). You don’t neeed UCI, sending out the rejection letters late <.<

@Shibykin …your only saying that because u got ACCEPTED!!! So SHUT THE F$CK UP! “We” on the other hand…should not get our hope so much…since they said they have a “record number of applicants”…

Back on topic UCSB does a sort of hollistic review where 50% goes to SAT/GPA and 50% goes to EC and essay

-a UCSB admission officer came to our school and told us that

so i got waitlisted to uci…and got the supplemental questionnaire to ucla but got rejected…rejected to UCSD…what are my chances to UCSB!!
within TOP 30 high school in US
3.7 UW
4.0 W
1 year done of college
26 ACT
620 math lv2
590 spanish
250 service hours
10 years viola/violin
4 years tennis
several awards

mentirosa didnt u say you got in UCLA Stanford and Caltech <.<

Unfortunately, when I checked my ucla again, it said I got rejected!! ■■■! Stanford and Caltech accepted me though.

You got into Caltech and Stanford? Really? (Not to sound mean but those stats seem very regular for even UCI)

@ahnyoungs2 then again, it’s always surprising which students the UCs pick :stuck_out_tongue: they probably were impressed with his ECs (they are rather good).

@people arguing: cmon guys don’t start a passion war - in the end, we all end up where we were meant to go. whether it’s cc and to a godly school or settling for a school we never thought we’d go but loving it.

Here’s to the rest of us hoping for the best! :)

Yeah, I think I will go to Stanford. Palo Alto is soooooo beautiful.

well said CruxSC everyone deserves their spot at whatever school they get into… which is why they were accepted in the first place.

anyyyyways. congrats on getting into stanford and caltech - thats awesome :)

does anyone know how things are looking for OOS in general? ive already researched it a lot… but can anyone make an educated guess whether it will be more difficult this year? or what kind of stats you need to have a decent chance?

mentirosa - i took classes at stanford this past summer for 2 months and stayed in lagunita (the freshmen dorms) the whole campus is gorgeous! but not too much to do in palo alto :/

hmm o.o. Well i was being nice and trying to leave a positive feedback <.<. . Gratz on getting in stanford and caltech :).

OOS should have a easier time compared to years before(Cali needs money), but the admissions for all the UCs are all getting more competitive so :frowning: i guess it depends how u think of it <.<.

hahah im not sure if i misread the messages between you two or whatever… but i was under the impression you were being nice also. no worries

cali definitely needs $ but then i realized that since im applying for financial aid… it might cancel out that aspect  idk

any idea what like average stats i would need to have a comfortable chance?

u would best want their averages  Though I think the avg person who is admitted and goes in is around 3.7-3.8 last year :/. Lil lower than UCD and UCI, and SAT is around 1860.

it’s not a noticeable diff with UCI and UCD in terms of the stats of the ppl who is admitted and goes in. though UCSB admittance rate seems to be higher than UCI and UCD for the past years

Why do you even care about the UCs? You got into Stanford and Caltech!!!
